The Den” After School &Holiday Club is situated in its own fantastic facility so that our “Bella afterschoolers” do not feel like they are “at a nursery”. The Den offers a home from home atmosphere for the older children outside of school hours. We cater for school age children up to the age of 12 years.
We offer a drop-off and collection service to a wide range of schools who will be provided with the necessary information as regards to who is permitted to collect your child. Staff on the school run will carry a mobile at all times in case of any emergency.
The overall aim of the after school club is fun, fun, fun! A place to relax after the stress of a hard day at school and to socialise and play with friends which builds confidence and develops self-esteem.
The room is a modern play area with bean bags, construction area, a Wii, music system, play-station and a range of games, puzzles and own cooking facilities within their room. There are also large play areas outside including their very own all weather football/hockey pitches and tennis courts!!!. We arrange trips and visits from jumping clay, dance teachers, sports coaches etc. so the children may learn new skills or further develop existing ones.
A quiet time is set aside for homework for 30 minutes each day and our staff will be on-hand to offer their guidance and supervision.
“The Den” operates as a Holiday Club during school closures which means parents have all year round care if required.
As with all our Bella Bambinos we strive to provide the very best standards in Northern Ireland. Social Services have recently made a requirement that every After-School facility must have a qualified Playworker by 2016. However, all of our After-School staff have attained the qualification in 2013/14, 2 years ahead of the required date.
We operate a 1:6 staff ratio (1:8 is the requirement), as we feel that your child will benefit from a smaller group of children with more adults, as individual attention is very important at this age. Afterschoolers flourish through the close care and attention given and the opportunity to grow and develop into young adults with close bonds and friendships achieved. We believe that the ability to facilitate these smaller groups of children enhances the scope for more trips to the park and outings with close supervision.
As with all age groups, you as the parent will be given daily updates as to your child's day and regularly be invited to discuss the development of your child with his/her key carer.
